1280×800 Desktop Wallpapers (Backgrounds)
According to MarketShare (October 2009), 1280×800 is now the second most popular screen resolution (20%) after 1024×768 (30%). Indeed, it is becoming quite popular in recent notebook computers. It has a 16:10 aspect ratio, which means it fits wide screen displays.
The wide screen wallpapers we feature on NDW are larger than 1280×800. They are usually 2560×1600 or 1920×1200. This, however, does not mean you cannot use our wallpapers for your 1280×800 screen resolution. You can simply download any of our wide screen wallpapers and your operating system will scale them down to fit your screen resolution. For this to work, you need to make sure you are viewing the wallpaper in its full size when you set it as a wallpaper. So after the image loads, put your cursor over it. If you see a magnifying glass with a “+” sign in it, click on the image to see its full size. Then, right-click on the image, select “Set As Desktop Background” or “Set as Wallpaper”, and choose the option “Stretch”.
You can also use our Wallpaper Resize Wizard to reduce wallpapers to be the exact same size as your screen resolution.
